Zhixing reminded us of some essential aspects and principles which would enable us to develop in our practice of Hua Gong. They can be summarised briefly thus:
He also spoke at length about the differing paths of the practitioner of Qigong, and the beneficiary or user of Qigong. Essentially both receive the myriad benefits of the discipline, but the practitioner has the more arduous task of deep transformation.
Initial attendance at Qigong classes soon creates easily recognizable physical changes in the student. There is the facial change, a lifting effect as the Qi energises the flesh and musculature. Increased Qi circulation leads to a better skin colour, texture, fitness and vitality. Within one week of intensive Qigong , you can easily note the weight loss. This shift should happen quite quickly. These experiences show that you are getting a lot from the energy and the practice. This shifting effect quickly puts you back on the right track i.e. the natural order and balance. The rejuvenating effect reflects the internal benefits, and a lot of vague illness related problems can be cleared. The user of Qigong can continue to benefit from regular contact with the teacher.
For the committed regular practitioner of Qigong more profound Changes leading to physical and energy transformation are going on. This is often difficult to put into words, and intriguing. You do not just shift the" shadow", but also you initiate a deep change within. This can take a long time as the quality of the flesh, skin, bone, marrow and Qi are all positively affected. This is more about the deep transformative effect. As the Qi becomes deeply immersed into the physical part of the body the texture of the body is vastly different. This can be likened to the effect of fire on damp wood. If the wood is wet the first level change makes it dry, and the danger of decay is averted.
However old marks are still there and the second level change seeks to erase these. As the deep rooted trauma is wiped out, your essential quality of energy becomes more like a cosmic symbol. You become more like the filament in the light bulb, capable of transmitting the light. That is, you channel the cosmic light and energy.
Thus the essence of your presence is more like a cosmic symbol. This is a genuine Practitioner Level, and is very demanding to achieve. Oftentimes old problems appear to be returning. It is as if the old video is being re-run for the last time.
This process may take some time as deep traumas are being erased. The advice here is to continue your dedicated practice, and do not be alarmed, do not try to figure it out. Actually in a general way our normal state of energy is quite filthy! So the deep effect of transformation can be strong. As it is a deep cleansing, it will settle down and a new quality will be born. Very many myriad benefits will ensue. On a general level it is good to recognize the changes. Younger, slimmer, fitter, acknowledge it! It is part of the practice to recognize and reinforce these changes. Mutual admiration is very good!
